in the beginning.....

starting this blog on a sunday morning so i thought i'd start with a 'scriptural' reference - haha - this is a picture of the house 'in the beginning'. many of you will be thinking we are out of our minds as you look at the pictures and the huge project we are undertaking. much thought and prayer has gone into this decision! the following are just a few of the factors that helped make the decision....

#1 - location is much closer for tom to get on 75 for work - no small consideration in atlanta traffic

#2 - we needed a place where we could build a shop on the property for rethunk junk so it didn't interfere with family life

#3 - we wanted a place we could pay for and call our own as we slave away on it

#4 - we wanted a home where we could all have spots to 'get away' and be alone....but that would be so much more designed to allow us to be TOGETHER!!

so with that in mind....we chose this little 'FIXER UPPER' in woodstock ga and we have hit the ground running. here are some before we started demo pictures..... well....some way early in the process pictures - already a wee bit of demo going on.....

WHY?????

why in the world would we move our family? again? away from friends? change schools? pack everything we own? well....for quite some time i had no answers to this question....and then the answers were pretty shaky.....but NOW? i am getting really excited!!! look closely at that picture up there....see the crazy condition of the room the kids are in? see the dust swirling around so thick you can hardly SEE the kids? see the horrid yellow paint color? see the HOLE where a window used to be? see the SMILES on my kids faces?? see how much FUN they are having doing a yucky dirty job? see how happy they are being together??? this house project and move are going to be hard, slow, and stressful....but it's also going to be something that brings us closer to each other and closer to living some of our dreams. so.......here we go!
